Prepare for the IMAT with Confidence

The International Medical Admissions Test (IMAT) is the official entrance exam required for admission to English-taught Medicine and Dentistry programs at public universities in Italy. The IMAT 2026 is expected in the third week of September 2026; the exact date has not yet been published. Test centers are typically available worldwide, allowing candidates to sit the exam close to home without traveling to Italy (final test-center list is announced with the official date).

The IMAT is a paper-based, multiple-choice exam administered directly by the Italian Ministry of Education. It is held on the same day and at the same time worldwide, ensuring fairness and consistency for all candidates.

The exam lasts 100 minutes and consists of 60 questions, distributed as follows:

  • 4 questions on reading skills and general knowledge

  • 5 questions on logical reasoning and problem solving

  • 23 questions on biology

  • 15 questions on chemistry

  • 13 questions on physics and mathematics

Each correct answer is worth 1.5 points, each incorrect answer deducts 0.4 points, and unanswered questions receive 0 points. The maximum score is 90 points.

Admission to public medical universities in Italy is extremely competitive, and your IMAT score alone determines your national ranking and admission chances. That's why proper preparation is absolutely essential.
