Admission criteria

Applicants are awarded a place at the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University on the basis of their results in the entrance examination. The entrance examination is compulsory for all applicants. It consists of a written multiple-choice test in biology, chemistry and physics and MMI (multiple-mini interviews) for those who successfully pass the written part.

·       Written entrance examination on 09-13.06.2025 in Prague.

For each correct answer the applicant receives one point. The test consists of 3 parts: Biology, Chemistry and Physics (25 answers and a maximum of 25 points for each test), i.e. a total maximum of 75 points for all three tests. For the questions in the written test, there is only one correct answer (single-correct answer) and only one question answered completely correctly is awarded one point. The minimum total score required for participation in the second round is 50 points. An applicant who has scored less than the minimum score of 50 points will not proceed to the second round and his/her entrance examination will be terminated.

·       The 2nd round of the entrance examination: interviews in Prague- Within the following days after the written examination.

Applicants complete five individual mini-interviews on different topics (each interview lasts approximately 10 minutes). The topics for the interviews may include role-playing in a medical environment, medical ethics, attitudes towards the provision of medical care, communication skills, teamwork, the interpretation of information, data calculation, the evaluation of situations, creative thinking, motivation for studying at the First Faculty of Medicine, achievements, knowledge and experience in a medical environment, and others. Each of the five interviews is conducted by a different examiner. A maximum of 20 points can be awarded for each interview. Thus, a maximum of 100 points can be obtained for round 2.

The points earned in round 1 and round 2 are not cumulative. Only the points obtained in round 2 are decisive for admission to the study programme.

The entrance examination consists of two parts: A written multiple-choice test and an interview. Both parts take place on the same day in Prague: 28.05.2025

·       First part: Multiple choice test

Applicants take a written multiple-choice test in Biology, Physics, Chemistry (3 x 20 questions) and logic (15 questions) corresponding to standard secondary school curricula. The entrance exam topics and examples of the questions are available on our website. Applicants have 90 minutes to complete the test. Each question in Biology, Physics and Chemistry is presented with four possible answers, unlike Logic which has only one correct answer. Three points are awarded if all correct answers to the question are selected and all incorrect answers remain unselected. No points are awarded if there is a discrepancy between the final selection and the correct answer. The total number of points that can be acquired for the written test is 225. Completed written tests are marked anonymously.

·       Second part: Interview

Applicants with the best-written test results according to the dean’s decision are subsequently invited for the interview. Examination committees consist of three faculty members. Successful applicants are expected to demonstrate their interest in the field of study, their ability to discuss medicine-related topics, and they should be able to defend their opinions. Applicants randomly draw two discussion questions/topics for which up to 90 points can be obtained.

The entrance examination consists of two parts: A written multiple-choice test and an interview. Both parts take place on the same day in Prague: 30.05.2025

·       First part: Multiple choice test

The written test includes 2 parts: Biology and Chemistry. The test is conducted electronically on applicant's laptop/other device. Each part has 30 questions. In total, you will answer 60 questions. Each question has only 1 correct answer out of 4 possible answers. Each question is for one point, you can get 0-60 points on the written part of the exam.

·       Second part: Interview

The interview involves: interpretation of a popular-scientific text, general overview, the ability of the independent judgment, communication skills. The actual interview for the oral part of the entrance exam lasts a total of 10 minutes (regardless of the number of questions asked)

Admission criteria

The entrance exam will be held in Pilsen between 01.06.2025 and 07.06.2025.
Registered candidates will be informed in advance via email about the exact date, place, time and format of the entrance examination.The entrance examination consists of a test in Chemistry, Biology and Physics - written test in present form. The requirements are similar to the British “A” level examination requirements. In total, there will be 75 questions, with each subject having an allocation of 25 questions. There is always only one correct answer and is assigned with 1 point. There are no penalties in case of mistakes. The condition is passing the entrance exam in Chemistry, Biology and Physics and gaining a particular number of points to be admitted. The number of points required for admission will be determined by the dean of the faculty depending on the anticipated number of admitted students.

·       ONLINE written entrance examination

Applicants take a written multiple-choice test in biology, chemistry and mathematics or physics. Applicants have the right to choose whether they want to take the test in mathematics or physics. For each correct answer the applicant receives one point: Biology 25 points, Chemistry 25 points and Mathematics or Physics 10 points.

·       The 2nd round of the entrance examination: ONLINE interviews- Within the following days after the written examination.

The interview consists of 2 parts, a maximum of 20 points can be achieved in each part.

2. part – personal profile including ethical and moral aspects, communication skills, teamwork and collaboration skills
