Application procedure
For the study programs with courses taught in English, in order to be admitted, the candidates have to take an entrance exam consisting in multiple choice questions from biology and chemistry. The test will consist of FIVE sections:
Section A: Multiple-Choice Questions
Four proposed answers will be given for every question, as candidates should mark only ONE answer. All questions carry equal marks. If the candidate marks more than one answer, he/she will receive NO MARKS for that question. No marks will be deducted for wrong answers.
Section B: Gap Filling Questions
Each test item has four missing words or terms. In this section the candidates are required to write the most appropriate words or terms that may fill the gaps.
Section C: Matching Questions
The candidates will be asked to match each item from column 1 with those given in column 2.
Section D: True/False Questions
These questions require a candidate to assess whether the presented statement is true or false.
Section E: Definitions and Explanations
The candidates will be asked to briefly explain certain Chemical or Biological concepts as well as to provide samples where applicable.
We will provide learning materials for these exams. For exam preparation, we offer the correct answers to Part A (also available for purchase through the university) and Parts B, C, D and E (which are not available for purchase through the university).
The duration of each test (Biology and Chemistry) is 1 hour and 30 minutes. Both of the tests are conducted on the same date.

Admissions 2026 – Indicative Timetable (Orientative)
For the 2026 intake, the timeline below is provisional and based on the 2025 schedule. The official calendar will be published at a later date.
Applications for the full English-taught programme will be accepted until the 1st of September 2026.
All entrance examinations will be held online, approximately as follows:
early April 2026 – online exam
mid-May 2026 – online exam
mid-June 2026 – online exam
mid-July 2026 – online exam (EU applicants only)
early September 2026 – online exam (EU applicants only
Proof of English
English language proficiency is demonstrated by the inclusion in the application file of an internationally recognized language certificate or by taking the English online test organized by the University of Varna in the same day with the entry tests in biology and chemistry. The University offers a preparatory course in English language for students who cannot meet this requirement.

Application procedure
For the study programs with courses taught in English, in order to be admitted, the candidates have to take an entrance exam consisting in multiple choice questions from biology and chemistry. These applicants are evaluated by a committee appointed by each faculty by analysing the documents included in the application files. It is mandatory that the prospective applicants have studied, completed and obtained grades (not less than 62% of the possible maximum of the grading system in the respective country) in Biology and Chemistry subjects in the secondary school.
Calculation of the grade for participation in the assessment procedure:
Average mark of the secondary school leaving certificate grades in biology and chemistry.
Marks from the entrance examinations in biology and chemistry
The entrance examination consists of two tests - in Biology and in Chemistry and a "diagnostic test" for English language (only for non-native English speakers who cannot prove any of the required valid English language skills) and is conducted online.

After each exam, one ranking list is published per month (from April to June), each followed by an online enrolment deadline. The final ranking and the in-person enrolment procedure take place in September 2026.

English language proficiency is demonstrated by the inclusion in the application file of an internationally recognized language certificate or by taking the English online test (diagnostic test) organized by the University of Plovdiv in the same day with the entry tests in biology and chemistry.

Proof of English
English language proficiency is demonstrated by taking the entry test in English. There is no need of a standard English certificate like TOEFL or IELTS. The University offers a preparatory course in English language for students who cannot meet this requirement. The duration of the course is one year.
