Application procedure

Admission process: Admission to the 6-year MD at the University of Nicosia is based on school/secondary grades and a motivational online interview. There is no separate written entrance exam. To apply, candidates must have successfully completed secondary education and present strong grades in the following subjects: Biology and at least one among Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics. Applicants from other systems (A levels, IB, national diplomas) are assessed to make sure their grades in these science subjects meet the requirements of the curriculum. After the academic evaluation, shortlisted candidates are invited to an online interview. The interview checks motivation for Medicine, communication skills, and understanding of the social/ethical aspects of the profession. A positive interview is required to receive an offer.

Deadlines: The University uses a rolling admission system. This means there is no fixed official deadline: they start interviewing candidates around late November / early December and they continue until all places are filled. Because of this, the earlier you apply, the better your chances — places are given as applications are approved.

For non-EU students, applications normally close at the end of July or beginning of August, because there isn’t enough time afterwards to obtain the student visa.

For EU students, the university can still accept late applications if there are places left, but again: early applications are clearly preferred and more likely to be successful. Interviews are organised throughout the whole period, on an ad-hoc / ongoing basis.

Proof of English:

English language proficiency is demonstrated in one of the following ways:

  • By providing an internationally recognized language certificate

  • Students whose native language is English and who originate from the UK, Ireland, USA, Australia and New Zealand, are exempt from this requirement. Students from English speaking provinces in Canada are required to provide an official letter from their high school that confirms that the language of instruction was English.
